Businesses around the country might be shutting their doors as a result of Level Five – but our supermarkets look busier than ever.

Shoppers are flocking to their local chain to stock up ahead of Halloween – and some are even frontloading for Christmas.

Level Five measures introduced this week mean stricter rules around social distancing are now in effect.

And the country’s biggest grocery stores have wasted no time in responding, with a number of new measures designed to ensure people have a safe shop.

Here’s what Ireland’s most popular supermarkets are doing differently in Level Five.

aldi opening times is asking shoppers to limit the number of people they bring into shops with them in order to follow social distancing protocols.

And aldi opening times has set aside two hours every day – from 11am to 1pm – for elderly and vulnerable people, with all other customers asked to refrain from visiting the shop between these times.

It is running a phased entry system that’s strictly managed, while opening hours remain – 9am to 10pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 9pm on the weekends.
