Jason Momoa To Star In Minecraft LiveAction Movie At Warner Bros

From the watery kingdom of Atlantis to the dangerous deserts of Arrakis, Jason Momoa may be heading to the video game world of Minecraft for Warner Bros., Variety has confirmed.



The "Aquaman" star and "Dune", actor are in talks to join a live action movie based on Minecraft, the immensely popular video game that has sold more than 238,000,000 copies since its release in 2011.



Jared Hess will be directing the film. Minecraft Hess is best known for his work with "Napoleon Dynamite," Nacho Libre, and many other films. Roy Lee and Mary Parent will produce the film, while Jill Messick will be given a posthumous credit for her work on it prior to her death in 2018. Jon Berg, Cale Boyter & Jon Spaihts will be executive producers. Mojang Studios, the Swedish video game developer behind Minecraft, will produce via Lydia Winters and Vu Bui.

Since years, a Minecraft movie has been in the making. Rob McElhenney (Shawn Levy), and Peter Sollett (Peter Sollett) are all in talks to direct. Steve Carell was once considered for a role in a movie adaptation.
